Blind Sight

Every day I see that man down my lane..
He wears those glasses and holds a cane..
People say he's blind and he can’t see..
The ones who say so really amuse me!!

Every day I see that man wander...
Makes me think and I do wonder...
Must he be really terrified to go..
To venture in a world where the sighted say no..??

I remember it was a bright sunny day..
And that's when I mustered the courage to say..
I asked him about my fears about the world insane..
Tried to confirm that he had the same..

But he gave me a smile and made me feel silly..
He said he is not blind and can see the world really...
It’s not eyes u need it’s a heart...
Looking at the world is really an art...

He said u see the ugly and u fear..
But there's beauty in it look from near..
If u are scared and chose to be a cynic..
U can’t be really happy u can just mimic..

If fear of the world you can’t cope...
Think of this and you will see hope...
You are a special creation of the ONE above...
It’s only you who can give and take love...

He didn’t bestow this gift to all...
But you can love the big and small...
He never intended to differentiate...
It’s you with your eyes who began to discriminate...

Having eyes should have been a gift for thee...
But it became the medium of fear you see....
Thus I say I am not the one unsighted...
I can love without being frightened...

It’s you who need to see with your heart..
And that’s why I say,
“It’s not eyes u need it’s a heart...
Looking at the world is really an art...”
